Allow for Shorter Days on Cross-Countries
In shorter winter days the final 1700 booking slot is close to ECT – build a buffer and be on the ground 30 minutes before ECT unless night-current.

In the shorter days of autumn and winter, the final booking slot (ending at 1700) is much closer to ECT. Keep this in mind, especially when planning cross-country flights.
It's good practice to give yourself an appropriate buffer before ECT or curfew, whichever is more restrictive. With flying, everything always takes longer than you expect.
Our SOPs state you should be on the ground 30 minutes before ECT unless you are night-current.
If you're not sure, speak to one of the instructors before your next cross-country flight.
