Apron Habits That Keep Everyone Safe
Walk behind aircraft, never push one in front of a running aircraft, start up pointing somewhere safe with the beacon on, keep passengers close and pick up loose items.

A few unsafe habits can creep in on the apron – like pushing aircraft directly in front of others that are running, or passengers wandering ahead unsupervised.
- Walk behind aircraft, not in front, where possible – especially if an engine is running or about to start.
- Never push an aircraft in front of one that is starting or already running.
- Before start-up, make sure your aircraft is pointed in a safe direction, with the beacon on.
- When escorting passengers across the apron, keep them close at all times. Make sure they know to stay with you and, if they drop something on the apron, not to run back for it.
- If you spot loose items lying around, pick them up. Once it's in the bin by the airside gate, log it in MIFIS.
