Checklists are one of the simplest ways to reduce human error, standardise the way we operate and make sure nothing important gets overlooked.
As pilots, we're all keen to get airborne – especially when there's a break in the weather. It's easy to feel tempted to rush through the checks, but taking an extra minute to complete each item properly is time well spent.
On cold winter mornings, give the engine enough time to warm up before asking it to work hard. Make sure the oil temperature is in the green before carrying out your run-ups.
