Close the Oil Cap Finger-Tight Only
After checking the oil, close the oil cap finger-tight only – over-tightening damages the cap and makes it hard to open; ask an instructor if it's stuck.

Checking the oil quality and quantity is an essential part of every pre-flight. Afterwards, close the oil cap finger-tight – no tighter. Over-tightening can damage the cap and make it hard for the next pilot to open once the engine has heated up and cooled down.
If you can't get the cap undone during your pre-flight, grab an instructor to help.
